A human being is endowed with tremendous potential and intelligence. This is evident with the advancements our race has made in science and technology. However, these advancements remain incomplete without virtues of human life – be it kindness, compassion, love, or honesty. One of the most fundamental of these virtues is humility. What is humility? What is the need of being humble? How can one acquire this quality? Our life’s journey is full of examples of humility – be it our most cherished scientists like Newton who famously and humbly said, “I do not know whatever I may seem to the world, but for me I am just trying to collect a small pebble here and there on the vast ocean of unknown” or spiritual traditions who propound it as one of the most essential quality for a seeker in his journey towards delving deeper into the self and God. The present essay competition aims to strengthen this important virtue of humility through a serious reflection and thus to further enrich our life and help create a more joyful world. This is the topic for this year's Essay Competition at AISSQ-2012. The theme of the competition is there in the subheading reading "discovering the uniqueness of being human". Students are encouraged to take up the challenge to find out that they are something different in unique way than ROBOT.
